Part 2 – Who are you?
Why are you Photography blogging? What do you hope to achieve with it?
Is this just shameless promotion? That isn’t really my thing. If I’m honest though, this is another outlet for my creative juices. If it helps in some shape, way or form, to promote my business, then I am thankful for that, but that’s not why I’m doing this, not really. I want to have fun, while expressing my thoughts and opinions on matters dear to my heart, on subjects I might call myself an apprentice in, but never an expert. This is also another way of connecting with people, new acquaintances and old and if I can pass on some knowledge in the process, well, that has its own rewards.
If my pictures, let alone my words, in some way resonate or touch you, then I will have achieved what I set out to do. Let’s go on a journey together, my Gandalf to your Frodo, or vice versa. After all, you have a say in this too. I want to hear about your thoughts and opinions as much as I want to express my own. What have your photographic experiences been like? What do you seek in a photographer? If you have questions or points to make, I’m all ears.
What are your plans for the future?
Is this where I hit you with the dreamboat? Marriage, children and so on? Well, I have managed to accomplish those things and as for me and my business, well it’s not what you might think. I have no plans for a Beyoutiful Moments studio on every corner of Ballymena. I am not concerned with comparing myself to other photographers. I have inspirations and mentors yes but photography is an ever evolving subject, and like my subject, I too wish to grow.
The moment I feel completely satisfied, that I have grown as far as I can, that is the moment when I will have to question my continued purpose. But I don’t think that day will ever come. Five years ago my studio was in my home and since then, I and my family have come on leaps and bounds. I never want to sit on my laurels. I will always be seeking something more in my photography. I am on a journey of self-discovery and self-growth and will continue to be so, for the rest of my life.
